Andy Chesney was born in Union, MS in 1955. He moved to Euless, TX just 10 years later in 1965 and later graduated from Trinity High School with a full scholarship to Tarleton State University in 1974. In January 1978, Andy was working for Gifford Hill Concrete when he met his future wife, Debi Baker Heilman.
Debi's parents started Euless B&B Wrecker Service in 1954 with just one shop made wrecker. Debi's father later died in 1975 and her brother, Bobby Baker took over the business. At the time Debi was working at B&B Auto Parts and Euless Wrecker Service to help Bobby and their mother Bernice Baker. The family-run business immediately accepted and hired Andy as a full-time driver for the wrecker service where he continued to work at until 1982 when he went into business for himself doing construction work.
In 1984, Mrs. Baker sold the wrecker service to her other daughter but shortly after her husband passed away at age 39 of a massive heart attack. By 1986, Andy had purchased the wrecker service and their fleet of 5 trucks. They outgrew the area where the business had been for 42 years and moved to a new facility which now has a fleet of 37 trucks, over 40 employees, and can handle just about anything and everything.
Andy Chesney's commitment and love for his community and associations has been his passion since he began. He's held several positions in TTSA, he's a member of TRAA, and he's a founder of Sea-Air-Land Recovery, Inc. 1999. His involvement in the community consists of helping several local High Schools with the ever 15 minute program, Project Graduation, Homecoming parades, football, cheerleading, drill team, baseball and any other groups that need his help.
Andy also provides cars and his business storage lot for the training of Police and Fire Departments, K-9s, Care Flight and Swat Teams. They construct an accident scene with dummies for the entire rescue teams to work through an accident from start to finish where the Citizens on Patrol and Citizens Fire Academies also train.
Andy has been recognized for outstanding service and contributions that include a Letter of Commendation for Citizen Involvement 1982, Business man of the year 1987-88-91, President of the US award for “Towing Operators Working to eliminate Drunk Driving” (T.O.W.E.D.) 1989, TWA Aircraft Incident Air Cushions Award 1992, United Way Volunteer of the Year 1996, Department of Treasury Bureau of ATF Canine Operations training 2001, Single Advocate of the Year Region II Texas Recreation and Parks Services 2004, Commercial Award Euless Parks and Community Services Department, Volunteer Business of the year Award City of Euless 2006, Appreciation Fireman's Helmet #1 City of Bedford 2006, Appreciation Fireman's Helmet #1 City of Euless 2006, and the Texas HALL of FAME 2010, just to name a few. Andy was also named the only Civilian to ever win the Blackie Sustaire Award Euless Police Department.
Andi and Debi now have a B&B BBQ once a year that truly connects the communities together to visit and have some fun. They don't just do this for their customers, but also the Police and Fire Departments, friends and families are also invited. With some help, Andy cooks 1500 pounds of meat and Debi cooks 1500 cookies. They have approximately 800-1000 people visit the event each year. As the oldest business in town, it's one event that everyone looks forward to each year because it consistently gives everyone that small town feeling they all love.
